The Anchor Inn is great

A group of us went the the Anchor for the evening recently and had a great time. The Harveys was excellent, food was great too, friendly staff and the new landlord was fantastic.
We all remained remarkably unflapped by the so-called 'poncification' which has, shockingly it would seem from some of the comments on this forum, meant that there is now some fabric on the chairs (the very thought of such a thing) and barking dogs have to stay outside (the poor dears).
Great pub. I'd thoroughly recommend it to anyone without an aversion to fabric on their chairs.

Those chairs will have to be reupholstered every year after the floods. What a waste.
And I certainly wouldn't dream of sitting in a pub while my dogs have to sit outside. Next time I go for a walk along the river, the Laughing Fish will be getting my custom. It's not much further to go, and it's a proper country pub, not a pretentious gin palace catering for those who know no better, even if it is owned by Greene King.

Up the Fish! Long live the Fish! The only pub with customers parking farm tractors outside the door.

So Guy, what relation are you to the new Landlord (and I use the term in its loosest sense) of the Anchor?
