There's a sign offering a fishmonger's space in the Riverside. Are they going away??

No.....

It looks like it might be true (see link).

It'd be terrible if Lee left the Riverside. We'd have to go to Newhaven to get decent fresh fish... and i'd sorely miss his shiny cranium too...

Just in case it's not true (or even is true).. the food sold in the independent outlets like the Riverside's Terry Fishmongers and Mays Farm meat supplies and Cliffe's friday veg stall is often cheaper and certainly much better quality that the equivalent sold at the superstores. If we don't use them we will loose them.. and I for one am fed up of fake offers, reduced price for two, generally dishonest pricing, pathetic cash-off offers, and fruit and veg that goes straight from unripe to off. We should value our independent shops.

Huh? To buy fish from?

If even Terry's can't make a go of it then the people who own the Riverside really ought to think about reducing the rent. Certainly no greengrocers are able to afford the high charges, and it's beginning to look like neither fishmongers nor butchers can (hopefully Mays will be fine, but there's been a long string of butchers who have given up with the place, at least in part due to exorbitant rents).

Sounds about right - landlords love £££ and don't care who they rent to.

I've had very good fish from the Friday guy. May have to go back to having fish only on Fridays :-(. If a fishmonger doesn't take the Riverside space on (sob), perhaps May's could expand into it? They're already stocking a good range of veg and dairy stuff, and if they stocked more they might lure a few people from Waitrose......

Sad to see them go. I still have fresh fish on a Wednesday courtesy of Tim the Fish delivered to my door in Malling but liked to use this outlet too.
