Hi all! I'm a student filmmaker hoping to make a film about lewes bonfire. I was hoping to get in touch with one of the infamous tab makers to talk about the process of making a tab. I know it's all very top secret but I was hoping to have just a general chat about the process rather than details of what's being made. If anyone could be of any help I'd be very grateful. Have a look at my stuff on vimeo if you're interested!

I fear this is a wind-up. I cannot imagine any tab builder is going to be risking everything at this stage of the game. You need to build some relationships over the course of a few months, and then ask those questions next year.

Ah. I have been fooled! Is the fear that I would leak the material before bonfire? Or is there a more general reason that the tab builders don't want to be filmed? I'm not local so I don't know the protocols.

Ask yourself why anyone should simply invite in some student from outside Lewes, to further publicise part of an event that is becoming over-run by outsiders including drunken students? Not difficult to twig why people are taking the p*ss out of you (in a nice gentle way).

I watched the movie but it was very brief. Did that nice young lady get her job as an engineer? I hope those men weren't horrid to her.

Surely you have more imagination than to make a film about the somewhat boring lives of a tab builder. There are a lot more thought provoking and interesting subject matters out there.

Do you know any tab builders on which you base that statement then Justathought ? I suspect not.

You have more chance of filming a Unicorn mating than filming a Tableaux before midday on the 5th However, be in Lewes on the fifth and you can with luck film 6 of them, Tabs are like buses, never one around when you want one, but then 6 come along together.

It is quite boring actually. All PVA, paper cuts and staple guns.
And that's just torturing the journalists.
Stay away.
