Today marks an all time low in my opinion, of the disgraceful journalism from this rag.
Lewes planners are about to decide whether to grant permission for the old magistrates court to be knocked down and rebuilt into retail and a hotel.
Rather than pick out this topic for the front page as a positive way forward for this town, it mentions on no fewer then THREE occasions when a SINGLE resident (on a local forum i may add) has branded it "TRULY HORRIFIC"
Last time i buy the ****rag.

The Sussex Express, although biased towards the local Liberals, is still the main local paper for Lewes and the surrounding rural areas of east Sussex.
In the absence of any really "stunning" news (to use estate agents terminology) it gives us a fair indication of local events. Long may it continue: I was discussing with Rouser today on an article to fill his column.

So if it's so "Pro Lewes", why does it have to take the negative word of ONE person for it's headline...why could'nt it of picked up on ONE positive point instead.
Disgusting "paper"

They have also used comments from the football club forum this week. Rubbish journalism.

"Biased towards the local Liberals"!!! Honestly Jim, it doesn't have any opinions to speak of - how can it be biased????
If the Sussex Express does more than copy/paste 90% of its content from press releases I'd be amazed. The rest is made up of opinions garnered from this column. Oh, and the letters column, which is frequently very very funny.

DfL: it's horrific - get over it.
Of course Quora, the developer, hasn't even yet managed to complete on the purchase of the building, let alone put in any sort of planning application.
But not only is it horrific, it's also creepy. Look at the picture on front of today's paper: a man and his daughter have clearly just walked through a 15 foot flint wall to leave the building.

"Get over it " ??? what's that supposed to mean ? It's the fact that the local "newspaper" [note inverted commas] cannot be arsed to support anything and took one person's opinion that they scraped off a "local forum" as the general opinion of the town.

Yes I agree, the sussexpress have done a very bad job on that one. The pictures completely go against the negative comments. Looks good to me!

Disgusted from Lewes, try and be less thick, Lewes planners aren't deciding anything, it's been called in by SDNP. Don't read the rag, get the facts

Whilst it is very sad (and lazy journalism) that the Sussex Express picks up so many of its stories from this illustrious forum, it is also very good for the town to widen the debate. Not every Lewesian follows this forum, and many do buy the local paper. A sharp difference of opinion is to be expected with new buildings - one man's meat is another man's' poison! Many design-conscious people love flat roofed boxes, I bet that the architects of the Clifford Dann building and County Hall were very proud of their efforts. The fact remains, however, that the proposed shack is totally at odds with Fitzroy House and Friars Walk. It doesn't even come near the standard of design of the existing court or of the Ambulance Headquarters opposite. That is only my opinion - let the debate continue, in and out of print.
