Any ideas of good outdoor pools or places for family swimming apart from the Pells pool and beaches in this area within an hour of Lewes?

You can swim at Weirwood reservoir on Tuesdays and Thursdays 4pm until 8pm but it is mainly for triathlon swim training. You have to wear wetsuits and swim on a set course. Children can swim but they must swim with an adult. Cost is £6 for triathlon club members or £7 otherwise. Not sure about costs for children.
Google hedgehogtri for more details. I have heard that the meanders on the Cuckmere are good but have not been. Hope this is of some use.

Have just checked the environment agency website. The Ouse at Barcombe Mills has an A rating (these results were taken in 2009) The outdoor swimming society says that this should mean it should be good to swim. Anything rated A to C is OK. Not sure that much has changed since 2009. Obviously don't swim if the water looks bad. Also don't swim for at least 48 hours after heavy rainfall.
