On the way up the hill from Malling garage there are posters with a ‘30’ speed limit logo printed out and stuck in the window of nearly every house including in the window of Just Tyres. Anybody know why?

Strange to some as they don’t realise it’s a 30 limit. Just a reminder to the unaware or don’t care drivers

Because local residents are tired of risking their lives in speeding traffic. Sadly it’s not likely to have much impact but it’s good that somebody has noticed it!

Everyone in the town centre has some sort of poster in their windows for some reason or other ! Can't understand why.

At the bottom of the hill there is a barely noticeable, rather pathetic police sign. It says check your speed or the police will or something. Yeah, right. If the police just nicked people for speeding and anti social driving around the Lewes area they could pay for bobies on the beat. If putting up the rubbish sign is policing we are doomed.

ESCC have said they will not enforce speed restrictions or put up a camera/signs or anything as there have been no fatalities. Not good enough. We love our road and community we just want it slowed down. Speedwatch is in place, approved by the police, and volunteers are catching many speeding cars. Facebook site set up face.com/slowdownmalling. 30 signs going up in windows. Petition being created. 200+ letters dropped in the area this weekend to join us 10am 1st July outside 149 Malling Street. Please do join us if you can. Press and local councillors are being informed.

For info and to illustrate what we are up against, the recent temporary speed monitor that was operational 16-23 April threw up some interesting data. For example, during the 24 hours of 19 April, 2,634 vehicles were breaking the speed limit (of which 531 would have been enforced by the Police - ie. over 36mph). Shocking!

There are crashes on that road regularly, especially when turning out of side roads into fast flowing traffic, but they just don't get reported as no one has died recently. The speed is some of the traffic is ridiculous. I'm not sure if it's because people don't know, or just because some don't care. Quite odd really considering it's around the corner from the Police Headquarters.... Sometimes you just think ESCC don't care about what Lewes residents need and deserve, just the countryside villages....

Bang on, Percy Thrower. Clocked a couple of vehicles doing over 40mph this AM on community speedwatch duty. One of them was a school bus! Plus a 'Get a life!' hurled from a van. A month or so ago, we clocked a van going at 57 up the hill. It's madness, I tell you!
