Went shopping around Brighton the other week after not going for few years. Wow it has changed for the worse. So many homeless and hundreds of addicts openly doing drugs. Police about but over run with the work load. Won't go back soon. What a shame.

Well I went to Eastbourne yesterday to check out the Beacon shopping centre. Although not finished it looks great and the town centre was heaving. Free mince pies and popcorn, a choir and a brass band. All in all a nice day out.

Well, I lived in Brighton for many years and enjoyed many a pint of drugs on a Friday night to be honest I think Brighton is a lot cleaner than it used to be.. yes there’s addicts but there always were? No more than usual.. to be fair Lewes seems to have a load of undesirables, groups of kids roaming around of an evening with nothing to do, drinking and smoking drugs in grange gardens etc..

@ Harry. I did first post. I know it's a party town. Used to party hard myself. But it is worse than 15 yrs ago. For example car park on Trafalgar street I think. Used to have 20p walk in loo. Had needles inside . Now as leaving car park youths blatantly making weed roll ups by exit. Then 10+ tents by the side. Up little steps a little look out kid and then wronguns smoking a funny pipe, looking hard at phone in my hand. 3pm Friday. Is what it is but seems a lot worse. If I was a smaller person I would have been bit intimidated. I'm just shocked really.

There's quite a good programme on BBC iPlayer at the moment about homelessness and begging. It tackles the issue about whether beggars are genuinely homeless and whether our definitions of homelessness are too narrow.

I'd be more intimidated by a drunk group of youths than those that are smoking a bit of weed. 3pm on a Friday sounds perfectly reasonable time for a smoke, just as nobody really bats an eyelid if someone has a pint on a Friday afternoon.

I have no problem with people and Jamaican ciggies. But might point is the herb and 2 other more serious adiction drugs within 30m of car park. It will be legal soon but would you want a blunt to be blown in granddad's face before he crosses road. Imagine soon tobacco banned & weed only in public :0

I think the important thing to take away from this news is that it's not the Conservatives fault.
Austerity cuts to policing, universal credit and welfare reform, a declining economy are all just a part of their prudent management of the country, and don't impact on society negatively. It's just led to more social responsibility and encouraged people to help themselves out of poverty.
If you're the sort of person bothered by kids smoking at 3pm on a Friday afternoon, you'll be the sort of person who will find a way to blame the Labour Party.
