Why are there so many coffee places in Lewes? If you are normal you go to a pub and have a pint. I don't get it.

Too many Coffee Shops indeed Mr. Bonyak. What amazes me is why so many people in Lewes were up in arms about "Capitalist Multinationals" like McDonanalds and Burger King wanting to come to Lewes, but these same people didn't bat an eye lid when Costa & Cafe Nero roll into town. The funny thing is I don't think they are hypocrites, they didn't actually believe what they were saying in the first place (they were just trying to find a excuse to hide behind) they just didn't like the ideal of a burger chain in their quaint county town. It's comical really that most of these people now probably frequent these Coffee Shops and use the free Wi-Fi so they can opst on this forum claiming to support local businesses.

Cafe Nero and Costa are hardly the same level as Macdonalds or Burger King, besides which, there were plenty of people 'up in arms'. You'd do better to focus your attention on Tesco though, they're the ones that go to extraordinary lengths in tax avoidance, theirs is the empire that Shirley Porter, the world famous corrupt fraudster, will be inheriting. Most people don't care though, you're right, they live only for material wealth - and when that end is so universally encouraged, if not enforced, you can't blame folk for being brainwashed.

My attention and my sights are firmly trained on the Guardian reading Nimby's. Can someone please tell them that if you have to use a rickety 60's bicycle you still need to abide by the traffic laws, especially traffic lights. I was nearly flattened by some old hippy on a bike the other day, she just ran straight through a red light and shouted at me for crossing the road. I hope she choked on her organic lentil, 3 Bean, Tofu, Dandelion Tagine when she got hope, which by the look of her was probably the Newbury by-pass.
