Police and ambulance crews were called to an address in the road at 4.07pm today after a man from the Uckfield area suffered serious stab wounds. Ambulance crews were unable to save him and the victim was declared dead at the scene.
A 33-year-old local man was arrested at the scene and he remains in police custody this evening.
Police are currently conducting enquiries in the area to establish the circumstances surrounding the man's death.
Detective Chief Inspector Jeremy Graves of HQ CID said: "This appears to be an isolated incident between family members and we are not looking for anyone else at this stage of the investigation.
"At this time I would like to appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have seen or heard an argument between two men in Mill Lane shortly before 4pm to contact police."
