Has anyone looked at the newly reopened Grange? The structural stuff looks to be a good job, but the upholstery is in shocking pink and a sort of yellow-olive green guaranteed to ruin any wedding photos that include them. (photos on Carlotta Luke's web site)

Yes, the renovation looks terrific but the furnishings! It looks to be some sort of international hotel style or at worst, tarts boudoir ....
Not sure why they didn't go for well designed, simple modern furniture that would let the interiors speak for themselves. It seems a bit muddled and the shocking pink and lime yellow furniture certainly don't look too happy in the reception hall. It may well look better when seen from inside, but not too happy with what can be seen in Carlotta's photos and through the windows. No doubt there will be plenty of reaction on this Forum.

You're surprised that the screwed up the interior design? Probably some schmuck with a BA in Furniture studies working off of a combination of their 'how to make generic colour choices to sell wedding venues' textbook and sheer bad taste.

The outside light, over the main entrance which is a modernish design with I think brushed aluminum or stainless is not at all in keeping with the Grange which is a grade II* listed building. It makes me wince every time I see it. I looked at the planning and sure enough it was on there. What was the conservation officer thinking or doing? Surely they could have had a light more in style.

Does anyone know where the cable car is going to be situated? Surely not attached to the house.

Yes, the structure, plaster and woodwork look fine. The violently-coloured upholstery is another matter, especially as it's been inflicted upon good old furniture. It's a bit like seeing the Archbishop of Canterbury in a leopardskin catsuit.
