Southern Kick in the Teeth

A Southern Rail manager told me in the summer they were well aware of train overcrowding due to the reduction in the number of carriages to London but this was due to „operational „ reasons and could not be addressed before the new table table kicked in.
Well, the new time table is another kick in the teeth. Up to now, at least some London trains had 8 carriages. No more.
Four carriages every time, brimful to the point of being dangerous, hugely stressful. Hugely expensive (and fares further rising) The disregard and cynicism displayed by Southern continues to be outrageous. And yet no hope in sight.
The lady at the ticket office told me this was none of her concern, there was no body to complain to and „they“ wouldn’t listen anyway.
Now there would be a popularity booster for Maria Caulfield.

Don’t forget that the Southern franchise is different to others in that it is acting as a contractor to the dft. It is therefore perfectly reasonably to bug, pester etc Maria Caulfield to ensure Southern are delivering what they are contractually obliged to.
In this regard, last year I found that the contract doesn’t require Southern to count or report the number of train cancellations - embarrassing or what?

I did some work on this last Summer, Listed the 8 car trains but don't know what changes they made with the timetable alteration 15/12/19. My comments in the Forum were under ' 4 car trains from Lewes'. Maria Caulfield had some involvement and my understanding was there might be changes to rolling stock allocations May 2020.. There are only the same number of 377 type trains but I was hoping they would have spare capacity with Thameslink type and use them on the peak Eastbourne/London Bridge Trains releasing 377 type trains for the Victoria route but presume that will mean training Eastbourne Drivers on Thameslink Trains so beware and don't hold your breath

If you travel at peak time from Lewes the train is half empty, I’ve never not got a seat in 2 years of commuting. No trains to London today though from either Lewes or Brighton due to flooding!
