Exciting!!! Lewes has never been the celeb hub that Brighton seems to be but with Martin Freeman opening the cinema and Boris Becker moving in soon could things be about to change? Are there are any other famous faces in Lewes, I bet the keep there heads down or are only famous in the arts world.

There's an irrational obsession with celebrity and it's unfortunate if it spreads to the town. There's been famous people live here and it's like anything with the town.

If you come here, get in with the community, lend your hand and respect the town the way it is then you'll be welcome. If you come with a DFL mindset wanting to change things to suit your life, live a London existence of not bothering to know your neighbour then the welcome won't be so warm.

Hopefully Mr Becker is now over his habit of marrying models he impregnated on a one night stand in a 5 star hotel in a European capital somewhere and want to actually get involved with the town. But then again ... maybe not.

Matt King, the guy who plays Super Hans in Peep Show, is seen around quite often as is Mark Williams (Arthur Weasley). I've also seen Binky from Made in Chelsea and Bianca from Eastenders in Lewes.

@all welcome

Don't know where you get your 'faux neighbourliness' from. I'm just reflecting what tends to happen when someone with money or a loud voice moves in to the town and then starts dictating what they want the town to be.

Good God your a grumpy so and so. I expect you are a proper nimbly too. Give people a chance. It's a free country (for now) and you should learn to more welcoming to strangers. I personally wish Mr Becker a warm welcome to Lewes.

You haven't really read my post have you? I said this is what tends to happen, and to be honest I think that's fair enough. Personally, I'm on great terms with my neighbours and no im not a nimby. You no nothing about me.

I suspect the reason why you've chosen to take issue with my post is that you see too much of yourself in my post: a DFL that wants to change the town so it's more like Islington than Sussex.

How wrong you are. Been here a long long time thankyou. A least my time in Lewes hasn't made me turn like you. Change would do you good. Your assumptions are obsurd.

Hi Good God
I find your belief that you can dictate who will and won't be welcome to be really annoying and embarassingly provincial.

Good god, have you ever been to Islington? Or do you just like reaching for the hackneyed right-wing cliche? Islington is the 5th most deprived borough in London and the 14th most deprived local authority in England.
