It's the ninetieth anniversary of the Somme and Southover have done an excellent commerative badge.
We haven't got it out there as much or as early as we should have done - but they are available at the Railway Station newsagents and I'll get them into the Gardeners Sat morn.

My ( American ) grandfather was too old to serve in WWI, but tried to sign up anyway. Born 1887 - over 30.

My ( American ) father was too young to serve in WWII, but lied about his age, signed up and landed D-Day +7.
Born 1924 - signed up Jan 1942 after Pearl Harbour.

I'm proud of both of them and I will march for both of them on Saturday.

Buy the badge if you see it.
I'll ask that it's displayed until at least Nov 11th.

My (Dunno where from as he was adopted) grandfather was too old to work at age 16 but tried to sign on anyway. Born 1959. Liked the chicks over 30.
My (must be English as he was concieved in the carpark behind forfars) father was old enough to go to prison but lied about his age, signed on and laid Donna Day (my mum) born 1974. Gave my mum a pearl necklace.
I'm proud of them both and will do the parking meters for both of them on saturday.
Buy me a vodka if you see me.
I'll ask if I can be bladdered until at least Nov 11th

QUOTE OF THE MOMENT
I like BONFIRE NIGHT, and of course all the out-meetings which go on around this time - and the loud bang at the crack of dawn!
