Just drink water like its going out of fashion. It suppresses the appetite, and when you get hungry, just focus more on eating fresh fruit, veg and generally smaller portions. Your stomach will shrink and appetite diminish.

Obviously steer well clear of diet drinks, and generally sugary drinks as well. Water, water, water, with some green teas and mint teas (no milk needed). This will compliment any exercise program you choose.

I've lost 8lbs in 3 weeks on Slimming World. It seems reasonably easy, but I'm not convinced about the idea of Syns(!) which are all the fatty/sugary things we all like to eat. So far, so good! Some people have lost amazing amounts of weight in my group, so it must be okay.
If you prefer Weight Watchers there is a new group just opened up on a Saturday also in the Phoenix Centre.
Good Luck!!

@ responsible parent - trolling is far worse than consuming most drugs. Can't you see what damage trolling is doing to you over just the past few days? You may claim that its brought you some sense of a thrill, but I think when it boils down to it, you've just wasted your time, and helped me fine-tune my own arguments and done additional reading and interesting research!

The problem that I found with it is that a lot of the food you make has a lot of artificial sweetener in which I found tasted rank.
I lost quite a bit of weight through it but it goes back on after as its not losing weight like the good old way of eating better and exercising

@ Responsible Parent - is that the best you can come up with? You aren't even a very capable troll. Perhaps you should take some real drugs and expand that very insecure, tiny polluted alcohol shrivelled brain then you could put together something actually acerbic and witty. Till then, off you go.

Uh huh. I take it you're upset with something I've said over the past few days. You might want to get over it as bitterness and resentment is rather damaging. More so than THC.

My sister just lost an insane amount of weight on SW. I went to one meeting and was horrified by how much processed food they encouraged and the woman was a little akin to the character on Little Britain. But give it a go, it might just work for you - it's only a fiver or something!

Thanks guys. Some helpful comments, some not.
Pedro - I'm new to this forum but you sound irritating in this thread. I'm not going to fill myself up on water and eat nothing but fruit & veg, I'm aiming to lose weight sensibly, not employ tactics used by people with anorexia nervosa.
GirlAboutTahn - how much weight did your sister lose and in what length of time? I'm surprised re the processed food, I thought it focused on fresh natural foods, that's what appeals to me about it.
Adele - eat less and exercise more? If it were that simple no-one would be overweight.

@overweight - there is no need for the hostile comments towards me. What I said was common sense and straightforward advice that would guarantee you lose weight, and most crucially be nutritional, rather than heading towards some sort of unhealthy fad diet which will only help in the short term. I've not suggested you suddenly start following some starvation diet....

What Adele has said is also fairly logical. Its not detailed so unhelpful from that perspective, but people do tend to try and overcomplicate weight loss. Just bloody eat less, and better, and try to move about it a bit more.

She's lost 3 stone since Jan. She lost the bulk of it by summer. But her diet was very bad before - lived off takeaways and all you can eat for a tenner at Indian restaurants. Good on her though! Slimming world focuses on a very low fat diet (using processed substitutes). I have lost 10 stone on this in the past and it messed my hormones up but it was an extreme. I've now a degree in nutrition and just can't bring myself to lose weight with Slimming World but while it might not be my ideal my sister is eating a lot healthier than she was so in that case I think it has been a positive. It all depends where you're at and if it puts you on the right track.
