@sad day - Just to be on the safe side, let's not make any jokes about anything ever again, in case someone is offended, then you can offer up your little thoughts and prayers in a safe space.

Don't forget that RAF fast jet occasionally fly up or down the Ouse valley as routine training... as do RAF helicopters.
A27 seems to be used by more emergency vehicles with 'blues and twos' on than ever before.
All just a coincidence. (Or am I bluffing, and trying to cover up something sinister that we don't want you to know about ;-) ?)

As you probably know in times of high (perceived) risk the RAF sometimes station Typhoon interceptors at Northolt as their normal bases in East Anglia are still quite a few minutes from the likely sites of aerial attack /terrorism. Its probably mostly spin to demonstrate a presence and reassure our "allies", one of whom will be making his own way here soon.
There will be ships off the coast to intercept missile attacks and the US Navy will have a carrier nearby to.
Fast jets often egress via Cuckmere and through the gap east of Lewes as it is one of the least developed areas in south coast so they will disturb fewer people than over flying Brighton, Eastbourne or the crowded lower airspace further west.
