It should be made a criminal offence to not take down notices and posters after an event has been held. There are still signs up warning of delays for the childrens moving on parade and posters advertising that tropicana event in the old bus station on 2nd July.

I agree. But in Lewes there are some very helpful people (mainly busybodies) who do remove them, as I have had several thrown over my fence from the main road.

Could say the same for the panto advertisements usually up Nevill Road.

Same could be said for the Lewes Operatics and Lewes FC posters. Seen a few in places still advertising last seasons games.

criminal offence seems a bit harsh. As i understand it you need permission from the town council to put signs up and are already required by law to take them down afterthe event. This happened to a friend of mine (not in Lewes) who was not only threatened with court action but also required to pay a fine of 70 pounds and then had the local tax office investigate her - all becasue she sold a few tomato plants on a table top in her front garden for charity !!!
