Heard that Shelleys has finally gone into receivership,
I call it karma for ruining the only good thing about an otherwise stuffy hotel; the beautiful, mature garden they hacked to death when the new owners took over. Shame on them.

As a resident of Lewes but not born and bred I find this post very disturbing. Have you thought to pause for a second and think about the employees and their families just before Christmas. What about the fact that you are spreading rumors about a business, which as far as I have seen is still open and this is the first I have heard of this. Perhaps if Trevor would be so kind to reveal his source of such a hurtful rumor. Would the people of Lewes really be happy to see a Hotel close down in town.....a business that brings business to the town. I only hope that the people that use this forum do not represent the people of Lewes. I for one am on the owners of Shelleys side.....it is always easier to write off the underdog hey????

Yeah Trev how is the council estate with all the other unemployed people who lost their jobs when you celebrated the end of their business. Wow you are such an idiot it actually must hurt your head sometimes. I am impressed you managed to put a few sentences together and even managed to use punctuation. Well Done Trev you Chav.

I sympathise with anyone who loses their job, particularly now. But Truth Man how are the owners of Shelleys 'the underdog hey????'?

Truth Man - I don't think you understand what going into receivership is - why shouldn't the hotel still be open? I am also aware that the hotel is in receivership but this does not mean the hotel shuts down and everyone loses their jobs - maybe millionaire Bill will buy it? And Trev the Chav - I think maybe you are over-reacting just a tiny bit?

I work in the financial department of the East Sussex County Council. We had suspended their account with regards to our conferences, however we have now been informed that The Shelleys is not in Voluntary Insolvency as mentioned by earlier writers. The Shelleys have entered into a Company Voluntary Arrangement with creditors to be paid 100 pence in the pound over 4 years and appoved by the High Court. The company is operating as normal. The rumours are very misleading and damages the credibility of the Hotel. Does anyone know where the rumours originated from?
