It is unbelievable that they (the government and PHE) have made such a mess of counting positive cases. They cannot be trusted to monitor the seriousness of the pandemic. It's far worse than they told us, even in Lewes district (21 cases in the week to Friday, 10 the week before). And in Brighton 102 in the week to Friday, up from 44 in the previous week.
Don't make it worse by being careless!

I'm sure lots of people who get it just stay at home and don't report it to anyone. Schools and workplaces are back, shops are open and some entertainment. It is inevitable cases will rise. The important things are that few of the people who catch it are vulnerable and that the NHS has had time to deal with the increase in cases needing help and will be able to do so over winter. The advise should be if you vulnerable keep out of the way. Everyone else keep in mind that many people are vulnerable and keep out of their way. Parents may not be able to have close contact with their children. Some workers eg vulnerable teachers may have to wait and should be helped if necessary. Many people face difficult decisions. If you get ill then I really hope it's not too bad but it will pass eventually and you will get better.

So we have 31 cases in Lewes district in 2 weeks. Is that 31 testing positive with or without symptoms? How many have been hospitalised? Without those details the figures are meaningless. I wonder how many people go to the doctor or accident departments in hospitals in the Lewes district every fortnight? You can bet that 310 would be an extremely conservative estimate. Hysteria is very catching, I imagine the number testing positive for that condition would number in the thousands

A survey reported in the media today says that 76% of those who were randomly tested positive had no symptoms at all. That suggests that for every person with Covid-19, there are another 3 who don't know they've got it, and who are probably contagious. Take care everybody.

@Tom It's now up to 31 cases in ONE week (from 28th Sep to 4th Oct) according to the PHE dashboard (which we all know is probably understating the real infection numbers). That suggests well over 100 people in the Lewes District with Covid-19. Not a huge number but an exponential increase in three weeks.

That wouldn't have anything do do with the increasing amount of people being tested would it? I've seen queues at the tent by Phoenix causeway. At least it's getting some use now. It's been there, uselessly for six months since the hysteria started. Any hospitalization or deaths? Don't bother asking, got to keep the panic level up, got to undermine the economy more and more so the great reset can go ahead with hard austerity.

As you well know, Tom. Hospitalisations rise within a week of case numbers rising, and deaths about two weeks after. And guess what, the daily average deaths has risen by 500% since the first week in September, as has the daily average hospitalisations. Who knows where we will be in a couple of weeks at this rate?

A rise from 1 to 5 is 500%, without the numbers it is meaningless. By the way, your pessimism quotient is staggering, Marvin from The Hitchhikers Guide is a ray of sunshine in comparison as is Eyore from Tales of Pooh!

The 7 day average daily death rate on 4th October was 55.7. Exactly 4 weeks earlier, it was 10.1. That's a rise of 551%.

The average age to which people here live is 81.5 years. People who die of covid 19 are on average 82.4 years old. Fit that into your mental virus of doom laden pessimism and infect everyone with it, if you can!

Yes. That puzzled me at first. It looks as if the virus helps you to live longer, doesn't it? But of course it's because of the minority of people who die before they reach very old age, for all reasons. The Covid average age shows how unlikely it is for under 75s to die from it. But we still can.
