There appears to be someone going around the pubs of Lewes tonight collecting for a "charity" called Sight and Sound Countrywide.
We refused to allow them to collect because after a little interrogation they admitted they weren't a charity.
They give a company number (09780318) instead of a charity number.
I can't find anything beyond their registration details online, no website for them or facebook page.
Hopefully people haven't parted with too much cash.
Sorry it's a bit of a late post and probably won't help too much.

Looking up that fellow's full name brings two convictions, both connected with fraud, one of them for stealing from a charity meant to help blind and partially-sighted people.

His name is Tyrone Howard Pooley and interestingly, the address the company is registered to is a residential address rather than a lawyer or accountant's office, suggesting he registered the company using an online service.

I'd get on to the police if I were you Huw, that or a quick email to the Charities Commission.

Thanks for the warning. The police definitely need to be told and it could be worth a mention to ESCC Trading Standards as they have a national scams officer.
