Any recommendations for a good pub where i can go and have a good meal, nice romantic surroundings and not break the bank. Just me and the Doris.

The Star at Waldron does it for me. Fantastic old pub with options. Great all week.

The Half Moon at Plumpton is very nice, asked to be seated in the conservatory as its very cosy and not alot of other tables. There are expensive meals but also not too expensive Booking advisable

May I point you in the way of The Abbergavenny Arms in Rodmell under new ownership, a lovely rural pub in an historic rural village =D

The Anchor Inn Barcombe. Refined, cheap, in a great setting with a welcoming landlord.

The yew tree at Arlington, good food but massive portions

The Abergavenny at Rodmell is a little bit tired decoration wise, and the food is pretty average and a little bit expensive, but still not a bad place to visit. My favourite is the Pelham Arms, Lewes.

The Royal Oak at Barcombe is fantastic - great food , reasonably priced , excellent customer service !
Definitely NOT the Half Moon at Plumpton - food too overated and nothing special - so many other places that are better !!

It has to be the Oak at Barcombe! Good food, an excellent pint of Harvey's, and dog friendly. Family run, they also allow little children, as long as they are on a short lead!

If in the Chailey area then it has to be the Horns Lodge for me. Good traditional pub food at a sensible price and the best real ales in the area. very friendly and welcoming.

Not quite rural; but the Brewers Arms in Lewes are now doing venison, crocodile kangaroo and zebra burgers. I will report back if I try one. Unfortunately, one customer had chili relish on his exotic burger- a bit like asking for a single malt with lemonade!

Try our Pigs' Ears - 4 quid as a starter and nothing like the pigs ears you buy for the dogs!
