Lewes FC are second in the league (and playing top of the table Cray away on Saturday). Does anyone know how many teams get promoted from the division, or is it one of those non-league ifs and buts situations?

2 automatic places this year plus one from the playoffs.
Lewes have been punching above their weight and may find it hard to sustain their position in the next few weeks as bigger money clubs boost their playing resources. On Saturday, Lewes play Cray Wanderers who took top spot on Wednesday night with a 9 -1 thrashing of Ashford. Cray have, in the last two weeks, added two more prolific strikers to their already impressive portfolio.
Having said that, Lewes are the only team to have beaten Cray this season.

Its peculiar to think that Lewes are supposedly punching above their weight. They get the second highest gate in the league and well over double the league average. Either smaller clubs are having money given to them or Lewes are mismanaging their resources which I see no evidence of. Get down to the dripping pan if you like football anyway.

They are punching way above their weight when it comes to playing budget which is £2000 a week. Some clubs have a higher budget and nobody coming through the turnstiles - who pays for that?

A lot of smaller clubs will have a generous benefactor or local business propping them up, either out of love for the club or as part of a dubious tax dodge like when Philcox used to chuck money at Lewes FC back in the day.

Most clubs have sugar daddy owners trying to be like Mr Abramovich and pumping in lots of money. These owners usually get fed up of wasting their money after a while and pull out. Lewes have been there and done that. It happened at Greenwich last week too and their £1000 a week striker is now at Cray who seem to have money to burn. For now anyway.

"Games don't get much bigger than Saturday's when The Rooks, knocked off the top of the Bostik League South for the first time in 12 weeks, head to table-topping Cray Wanderers on Saturday. It is not just First versus Second, but the league's top scorers against the meanest defensive and the best home record versus the best away record. Whilst the Rooks still have a game in hand over Cray, they warmed up for the game with a 9-1 rout over Ashford United on Wednesday night. Darren will hope to welcome back Lloyd Cotton into the centre of defence for the game the game of the day. Kick off at Hayes Lane, Bromley is 3pm."

Thank you for the info. Great win for the lads.
Went to Brighton game. Albion were a decent side playing a better one. The fans are getting louder too, good noise for an early ko
