Honestly, how long are these going to take?
Tesco & Aldi virtually inaccessible (in and out), queues down to Homebase, queues up Little East St…yet no-one ever seen working there.
How much longer?

Roadworks in Lewes always seem to take forever. When they dug up the precinct a few years ago to lay a gas main, it seemed to take ages and the railway bridge is still closed nearly 3 months after the work should have been finished.

That's because they are taking place mostly at night. Upgrading gas main I think so Id rather they got it right!

They were certainly working this morning. The bus, turning into Phoenix Causeway from Brooks Road, had to breathe in to squeeze through a very narrow gap left by a big lorry / digger/ combo thingy that was doing diggy stuff.

Cutting the road down to one lane in front of the Land Rover place seems totally non-sensicle.
Does anyone know why they've done that?

Totally agree Clifford, just use the left lane for traffic turning left and the right lane for straight over/turn right. Would cut the jams no end

I pass the roadworks daily and they're ALWAYS working on it. Night time too. Maybe it's just a complicated job rather than just a hole in the ground?

In France or Spain the people would just move the obstruction outside Chandlers on to the pavement, why do we put up with it?

Very badly managed by SGN. People are spending 15-20 mins just to get along Brooks Road and others cant get out of Aldi or Tesco. Be glad when these idiots have gone!

The good news is that it does look as if the station bridge might be reopening finally - they have laid the tarmac so perhaps they really will be finished by 30th October. Trying to get from the other side of town to the shops and back has become a major logistical nightmare recently.
