Did anyone else witness the incident at lunchtime? A frail and elderly woman was helped in by passers-by as she had fallen down, had blood running down her face from a face/ head would and was obviously in shock. The Reception staff said they couldn't do anything as there was no nurse on duty and she should find a car and go up to Victoria Hospital minor injuries unit. Of course that flummoxed her and the kind passers-by who were trying to help - they had no car. Not sure what would have happened next but at that point a Doctor came out, ( I don't know if Reception called or not) and immediately reassured her and started to sort treatment out for her. I know Reception staff have guidelines but surely they should have let a Doctor assess the situation first!
Is this is an example of a bureaucratic process instead of a common sense and compassionate approach?

Maybe the reception staff forgot they worked at a Doctors surgery. It's easy to do when you're just shuffling papers.

Perhaps they should remove "surgery" from their name.

Riverside is, of course, a 'Christian' practice.
