Retrain as a carpenter

I was wondering if anyone on here has or knows anyone who has retrained in a trade? I'm looking to switch careers from retail and I've tried researching training academies, only one I've found is in Kent which is almost 5 grand. The money isn't the issue it's the travel. Any advice or information would be great

My mate did the one at City College. It's part time so you can still work too.

Don't worry about the college you go to, put your effort into finding a good tradesperson to work for. You learn about 2% of what you need at college. 98% of what is important you will learn at work. A good small or midsized firm will teach you safely and let you try new things. A bad firm will just use you for cheap labour forever.

The fact that somewhere like Cote is in anyone's top three speaks volumes for the paucity of proper restaurants here. more
