Halllooo.. I'm leaving the site again. Nothing personal, but it deliciously diverting and preoccupies me far more than is healthy.
And I am a terrible egomaniac and show off.
I hadn't looked here let alone contributed for three years and for what it is worth, the site sill seems pretty robust and lively still.
Some of the threads have been a bit alarming to my own personal politics
( dewey eyed National Front members welling up about the glory days ). lolx
Better such resentments and opinions are aired harmlessly here.
Registration would in one stroke remove the motivation to post at all.
I am under the understanding that the contributors here include many current councillors, County, District and Town employees and a smattering of ex mayors.
Those that don't contribute read.
People in local business, bonfire, Lewes FC, Priory, Victoria hospital, All Saints everyone one with an insight or useful morsel, all would vanish if they felt that even one person had access to their real identity.
Those with political beliefs that may not be everyone's tastes would also disappear.
In political history, the minority often becomes the majority and vice versa.
And if we do not protect the rights of those we disagree with, then we will have no voice when the tide changes.
At the moment the moderator can decide whether laws have been broken.
Comments and threads can be removed, and there will always be a grey area.
We are mostly grown ups here, I hope. Ignorance is usually exposed.
There is often grudging tolerance and admiration from opposing viewpoints.
Leave the site as it is.

Wow. It's been a fun two weeks.

What a shame. I've enjoyed your erudite and provocative posts. No chance you could develop some self-control then?

The way you worded your post about leaving, SQ, I almost convinced myself that Just_Sarah was your new alter-ego.

Anyway, don't leave now when it's just getting fun.

You're right, Ed. I thought, oh brilliant: a noisy opinionated and educated woman about the place. Funny too.

I haven't gone because I refuse to be driven away by a few illiterate twonks. Quite a lot of the abuse has clearly come from the same person, since he can't spell or punctuate in precisely the same pattern as his "friends".

Nextdoor is nothing to do with the government, which is probably a good thing. It's American, originates in San Francisco, and... more
QUOTE OF THE MOMENT
I like the fact it's safe enough to leave windows open and shops don't need to put grills up at night.
