There is a Victorian villa in St Annes Crescent opposite the County Hall, which currently looks very sad and dejected, the council doesn't respect it's lovely buildings. they are just work horses to them. It has great potential and as the council already has it it would make a great Registry Office. In its own grounds, loads of parking especially at weekends. Could even hold receptions. I expect the public rooms are rather grand. Failing that it would make a great boutique guest house (the council loves that expression!) Would probably be a lot cheaper to run and maintain than The Grange and much better than The Town Hall.

Grafter, St Anne's School site is open to the public. I quite often have a wander round there when out walking and then make a crafty cut back through County Hall's grounds. The site is up for sale for "community use" and is currently available for hire for barbecues etc.
