My English may be a bit lacking - what, please, is 'crimbo'? Is it a kind of cake?

John, 'Crimbo' is a bit like 'Christmas', but shorter. Rather like 'John' is a bit like 'Jonathan', but not as clever.

I see. So 'crimbo' is the clever way of saying 'Christmas'? Have I understood?

Have they changed the day that they collect on the Nevill then? Mine has always been collected on a thursday.

No John, 'crimbo' is just a shortened version of the word 'Christmas'. Not a 'clever' version, just a tiny bit quicker.

Your end of the Nevill is done on a different day then, SWR - our end has always been done on a Monday.
You'd think they'd do it all on the same day, really, wouldn't you?

Big praise for furniture now who dug our recycling boxes out of two feet pile of the remaining snow last friday and all the stuff that had been in them including very soggy newspapers and took it all away and then neatly stacked all boxes by our garage. THANK YOU FOR GREAT SERVICE.

Agreed, they do a good job. But still no sign of them here (Cliffe).

I've just contacted furniture now regarding recycling in Abinger Place/Sun Street and been advised that they are not going back and collecting from areas missed last week due to the snow. They are continuing on their schedule rounds as usual. This will mean I will not have had any recycling collected for 6 weeks (due to no collections over Crimbo) which I think is pathetic. Why they can not go back and collect from the streets missed and then catch up as the Refuse collections have is not clear.
Anybody else agree?

I'm with you Minnie. It's getting like Naples out there. I'm exaggerating of course, but never mind.
