Sad day. I used to love Deep Purple during my Priory School days.

Ha. I still do. Can't beat Machine Head for good old adrenalin... or Live in Japan for that matter.

In Rock is good too. Mk2 was the best incarnation of the band I thought, although I saw them live a couple of years ago and they are still awesome.

In Rock was the first album I ever bought. Made a huge impression on me. Think I'll give Speed King a spin out of respect.

Have always had a very soft spot for the potentially pretentious "Concerto for Group and Orchestra", not sure why - that will be retrieved from its 20 year hiding place in the loft this weekend - I may give a renewed review on here next week...

"hush" is my fave DP track. (yes, I know it's a cover)

I liked Concerto for Group and Orchestra too. Apparently Ian Gillan wrote the lyrics on the morning of the concert while in a restaurant.
Which version of Hush do you like though BB? there is the '69 version with Rod Evans, or the rockier Gillan version from 1984. I prefer the latter.
