Anyone know if the Nevill-Malling town bus is running today?

I should think there are two chances of buses getting round the Nevill - fat and slim. Mr C-T didn't see any evidence of them on his arctic exploration earlier, and I doubt if they'd be able to get up Highdown or North Way, and going down Mount Harry and Middle Way would probably be perilous.
You could ring the county council and ask them, if any of them have managed to get in today - 01273 481000.
I think we should get refund of a day's council tax for every day the roads are unusable. Actually, they could reimburse my lost wages for all the time I'm off with my broken arm while they're at it.

Staff at ESCC (not all useless, except Highways) have an incentive to get in. If they do not, they do not get paid. This is hardly fair on those who live out of Lewes.

Thanks for that number Annette.
No Countryliners or Brighton and Hove buses today according to Traveline.(website given to me by guy at 481000)
Can't get through to taxi firms either.
I suppose they are running??

Wish I had gone out and stocked up yesterday but I thought the snow wouldn't reach us like Caddy said on the weather forecast.
Doh...

I think very few places pay you if you can't get to work because of the weather, although most give you the option of taking holiday if you have some left.
It's a shame that losing wages when they can't get in isn't enough of an incentive for highways staff to keep the roads clear and the pavements safe.

Unless it states so in your contract, an employer should not deduct pay if you made a reasonable attempt to get to work.....as said by lawyer on BBC Breakfast.
I work for an enlightened company and work from home most of the time anyway......and I stocked up on food yesterday morning so I am feeling very smug

Mrs D&O's company emailed all staff to tell them they'd have a day's holiday deducted for not getting in, but then they always have been a right bunch of Nazis.
Out of curiosity, does anyone know what your legal position is when your absence is enforced by the closure of your children's schools?
I was stupid enough to head into London today, because I thought I'd best gather enough work to see me through the rest of the week at home. Think I'd best pack up soon and head for home - trains now looking very ropey.

Just got back from Waitrose.Journey down from Nevill was slushy but ok if you walked in the road.Seeing as there is not a lot of traffic about that is a safer option.
Found a taxi outside the railway station and he seems to be only one of a few that are running today. 474444. (Forgot the name though)....It is only going to get worse (apparently) over the next few days.So today is the last day of slush as it will be ice tomorrow...
