I have always called the marching through Lewes on the 5th a procession.
I do not like it to be called a 'parade', is it a small matter of semantics?
Or is it a Lewes thing?

Mostly processions but in Cliffe we now now have a charade.

Cliffe have strictly marshalled ranks of three in their processions up till the return from the fire site when more of the pre sanitised bonfire style is adopted. It could be argued that this is the more traditional way to do it. The last procession certainly attracts a lot of members of other societies who come to watch.

Noisy. Borough have fun!!!!!! Our ranks of three are as good as any in Bonfire, possibly because we do it every Saturday from September to the end of November, possibly because we have pride in our society & definately because we have the best attitude to having a good night. Its a procession by the way, Parades are for Carnivals & Circuses
