I called Freeview on 0808 100 0288 but they said there is no reports in the Lewes area of a problem with the transmission and to try retuning with ariel our to clear system and then do again with Ariel in. But that did not solve issue. Does anyone have freeview with HD channels working well. If the problem is with the transmitter they will need more calls to list it as an issue.

Just called Freeview on same number as above and Gentlemen said he's had no report of HD Signal problems in Lewes. He suggested retuning......did this.....made no difference. He said he would 'log' my complaint.Maybe if enough of us call them then they may investigate. It's a free phone number from landlines. 0808 100 0288

Same problems here for last three days, facing the town hall transmitter as can't see Heathfield from where I am. Tried retuning but didn't help. That phone number is closed on Sundays.

Going through the channels not working, it looks like it's the SPB3 mux that's the problem. The HD channels plus CBBC and Film 4 +1 are the only ones affected, and they're all listed as being broadcast on the same mux (whatever a mux is).

Stupid comment "Get Sky'. If you understood the situation with TV signal in some areas of Lewes you wouldn't post such a comment. Comments like that are not appreciated.

I just reported it to Freeview. The more people with issues who do that the more likely they might investigate. They won't at the moment because still saying there are no reports of problems. They suggested calling 03456 505050 or [email protected].

I've just spoken to Freeview again and they're saying 'no reported problems'. They've
given me phone number of 'Radio & TV Investigation Service' 03709 016 789. I'll call them as well as number given by 'High Street above and see what response is.

Having got no joy with Freeview (who suggested that I could write to my MP!), I've been on to the Radio & Television Investigation Service who were not aware of the problem, but who did take a lot of info including some of the stuff from this thread. They're on 03709 016789 and probably worth a call to keep the pressure on. Website is radioandtvhelp.co.uk. Not holding my breath for the England match in HD though!

Just been on the phone to at800 (0808 13 13 800 - link from the radio and tv help website) who say that there is a 4G mast in the area that may be causing the problem and they are sending a free engineer to check my set up tomorrow.

@ High Dudgeon. We have noted the poor HD signal since last Thursday/Friday (in Winterbourne area) too.
An at800 Engineer came out to us earlier this year, confirmed there was a 4G interference issue, retuned our TV and left us with some aerial cable filters that solved the problem and we could watch HD channels without any problems, until this weekend.
I think the sudden signal problems over the weekend are a new issue, rather than the well known 4G issue - I swapped out the at800 filter for a new spare example the engineer left us, and that did not resolve the problem. I suspect the bad weather/winds last week may have knocked the County Hall booster out of alignment.
I too will call the numbers listed above in hope of adding to the pressure to get the fault fixed, as I will be surprised if a visit from at800 will fix the issue. Let us know how you get on.

As Locla Resident correctly suggested, 4G filters have made no difference (although engineer said there was potential for interference so at least we're covered for that now). BBC Reception Advice (result of call to Radio & Television Investigation Service - see above) emailed response that our local transmitter has been affected by atmospheric conditions and went on to say that I may have inadvertently retuned to Newhaven. However, at800 engineer confirmed tuned to County Hall with very good signal and said he would report to Freeview who he understood were looking at the problem. BBC Reception Advice said anyone affected should contact them and you can use my reference CAS-4968172-XZ112P. Just think how much better England might have played in HD!

Have just contacted Freeview - they acknowledge there is an issue and engineers are looking into it. Contacted BBC Reception advice too, and they said they had no reports of faults in the area, to which I advised they check their records as I knew at least one other customer in the same area had contacted them in last few days about same issue.
Keep up the pressure folks!

Just contacted TV Investigation Service again. Given me yet another ref. No. and advised yet again that they haven't a report of a problem. I gave them my previous ref.no. and also told them to check their records as others reported probkem to them and also have ref no.They're response was 'we'll send you an e-mail within 5 days'. Useless, So called Freeview again who acknowledged that I had reported problem on Monday18th. ........which was a start......and also agreed there is a problem. However they told me that the problem is being caused by weather......high pressure apparently and that their engineer can't come out to fix situation until high pressure 'goes away". Got feeling I'm being 'fobbed off'........or does it sound reasonable.

Hi Everyone, the problem is the HD broadcast located in Mux channel 25 whether your aerial is aligned vertically it horizontally, nothung can be done if your reliant on TV signal reception from Lewes county hall. Also if you live close to county hall and your aerial is aligned to Heathfield your TV or set-top boxes will choose the strongest signal received as disregard the weaker, the only possible way is to tune your device without the aerial installed/ connected to device, when finished with a clear channel list is to then manually tune the Eathfueld channels (41, 42, 44, 47, 49 and 52) and hopefully this will resolve the HD channel issue for the time being. It's not your aerial or cabling unless you know your aerial or cabling us faulty.
I hope this helps.
Kind regards
Daniel (NuDigital - TV, Aerial and Satellite Service), in Lewes

At present nobody seems to believe that there is a problem with Lewes VP or HP transmitters or Heathfield, so I have no idea. The other option is Freesat offering 205 services but obviously at a cost.

While I have some technical skill it seems impossible to do a manual tune on BT YouView boxes and there’s no way I can get Heathfield and Newhaven is a bit doubtful. Had perfect HD up until nine days ago and now something has obviously gone wrong with the County Hall transmitter and we don’t seem to be able to find out who is actually responsible for it. Frustrating to say the least!
