Inside the Police station in Lewes, is a small memorial stone to the officers of the East Sussex Constabulary who gave their lives in WW1.
When the new station is opened in North Street this will be consigned to the Police museum in Brighton.
This is because there is no room!!!! for it in the new station. (It measures around 50cm x 50cm)
This is an insult to the officers who gave their lives for the new generation of idio....sorry officers.
Please petition Sussex Police at Malling house until this decision is reversed.

Absolutely right. Write direct to Martin Richards, Chief Constable of Sussex Police at the Lewes HQ. The media may be very interested in it as well, it may be controversial enough for them to take it up.
It is disgraceful, those men paid the ultimate sacrifice and whether we agree of not with war they should not be forgotten in this way.

Actually I think more people would be able to see and pay their respects to it in the police museum than currently especially as it is a memorial to the east sussex officers who gave their lives and not just Lewes pc's ?.

Lewes has a small museum and now I come to think of it too small. Would that be good place for it ?

The police museum at Brighton Town Hall is a joke.
I agree that the memorial should go to the new station.
While they're at it can someone find the Toilet Seat trophy won from the Lewes Arms and put that in the new station as well!!

Brixton Belle.
Lewes Police Station was the Headquarters of the East Sussex Constabulary.
Brighton being Brighton Borough Police. So nothing to do with Lewes or East Sussex!!
So no this memorial should stay in Lewes.
