Seems that Network Rail is ignoring the need to get listed building consent and planning permission by removing the gates at Plumpton despite local opposition. Village will be cut in half (with 9 mile detour) for 3 weeks or longer depending on the standoff with LDC's planners. Who do they think they are?

Why don't you post video of the gates being removed ??? That sound bite shows nothing.

Have they got the necessary new Level Crossing Order? (All crossings have one and it identifies the conditions under which the crossing operates) - Level Crossings Act 1983, No Order, no crossing!
Further, have Network Rail produced a quantified assessment proving that the quantum of risk with the new crossing is no greater than the existing? (That will be difficult to prove given, by Network Rail's admission, that barrier crossings are often abused).

The existing crossing does not have an LX order but the new one does all ready for going live. New crossing is proven 63% safer with 3 independent risk assessments to prove. I know all this as just read the listed building application NR submitted. I also note Lewes planner and conservation manager are recommending approval due to the overwhelming safety improvements the new crossing will bring. Sounds like NR are doing a good thing to me.

Yes NR have followed all the legal processes and proved the improvements the new crossing will bring but I still don't want it and will do my utmost to stop them anyway I can.

Lewes council come out in support of new level crossing at Plumpton due to the improvements it will bring.
Improved safety.
Improved reliability.
Why would anyone object?

Looks like some nasty bits of work have pretended to be Reg Stone and Katie Wride, the above comments are most certainly not their views.
