Does anyone know the latest position regarding the new level crossing? The road is still closed despite Planning consent being granted. Maria Caulfield and LDC who believed Network Rail's overtures have been well and truly shafted.

Planning legislation has three purposes:
1. To use up our taxes by paying civil servants to write rubbish;
2. To allow big fines to be levied on the meek and gullible;
3. To ensure lawyers can charge £150 an hour for and endless stream of work and then retire early.
Planning legislation therefore does not apply to Network Rail and they will do what they want when they want (i.e. not much and never on time).

I heard they were due to start work yesterday - Network Rail engineers had been tied up with other things over the Christmas period! Not sure if they did though.

According to a letter sent to residents, the work started on Wednesday 6 January and is due to end on Monday 8 February.
