For those interested, following successful visits in other stores we at Lewes have a special guest in Peter James joining us in the precinct store tomorrow. Due to be between 9-11:30 with a talk every half hour about his upcoming projects and a Q&A session.
Hope to see all here in the morning!

Peter James is an international best-selling writer of crime fiction. From the local area making him hugely popular among our south east stores and I'm sure our competition too

Good for you, hope it drums up some business.
I read one of his books once, it was absolute drivel of the lowest order.

Of course you are entitled to your opinion Dell. As you are to share it with us. But the booksales show that you are in a minority. I enjoy Peter James novels, esp. the Roy Grace stories. And part of the pleasure comes from, as a local, identifying the various locations.

I realise it must just be me but I thought the two I tried were poorly written , best sellers lists don't necessarily indicate quality . plus surely this is just an advert for the continuously poorly performing retailer W H Smith ?

@Dell - they're not great literature and I don't like them, but the sales figures show that he's highly successful in that genre. I held an event with him once and he's a very good speaker, so I'd recommend popping in if you're in the area.

Peter James was my best friend at junior school.
He's an electrician now, lives in Leatherhead.

Last time I went into Smiths it was as bad a shopping experience as it's possible to have - even in Lewes
Awful chain - badly run - merchandised like a low rent boot sale
Won't be long before they're out of business

Just because something is popular it isn't necessarily any good.... Coca Cola, Eastenders, McDonalds, Jeremy Kyle, VW Beetles, The Who, etc etc.
I found his books full of exposition, plot holes, coincidence and poor characterisation.
