Had a pleasant walk through the Pells today in the sunshine. Water in the pond was gin clear and the carp were all looking nice and lively. Lots of rudd in there too.
I just felt that it was quite a barron place with no water lillies, no underwater plants etc etc. I appreciate both carp and ducks are very destructive (as are the kids etc) but can't something be done to get some more diverse planting done in there.
Also, is there any other fish in there ?...perch, roach, tench, bream, eels ??? they've all been in there over the past 40 years. I did see a few goldfish and a rather nice koi in there !!!!!

When I used to fish it years ago, it suffered really bad with weeds during the warmer months. Hopefully I'll be fishing it again soon... but I doubt that will still be the case.
The biggest issue with it, in my mind, is the amount of rubbish in there. It needs a bloody good dredge.

To my surprise, there was very little in the way of rubbish in there. It get's the usual bit up by the river end where the wind blows all the crud to but that was it. Apart from rock and stones, there were no underwater rubbish i could see...it was just a bit like the moon.
I remember those weedy fishing sessions back in the 70's. Those were the days.
