What a wonderful event and fantastic evening. As a resident who lives nearby I just love it - knowing wonderful people are having fun and raising money for good causes. If you have nothing nice to say about the event say nothing at all. Peace, love & harmony all round & long live Tongue & Groove and its' amazingness x

I'm sure it was all for a very good reason, but not sure I understand why that means it has to be so loud. I'm not bothered about background noise in my garden but I think indoors is a bit over the top. There is no need for that intrusion. Just turn the decibels down a bit, then everyone is happy.

Forgive me but Is this now a complaint against the level of noise ((which was well within legal and licensing limits) or the content of the music - which has been revered to as 'racket'? No one wants residents in the area to feel uncomfortable but do you complain to God when there is a thunderstorm? The money is raised because the event is what it is. Magical and community driven. Have you ever been? Have you any idea what is going on? The event sells out within a week which clearly shows the comminity support for its existence. If you feel it is too loud then I am sorry .... but maybe ... once a year .... you could go out of Lewes for supper ... or buy some really cheap but very effective ear plugs?

Your bullying on here is unpleasant. I could hear the racket with my windows closed right at the far end of malling so god knows what it was like for feline. Your attitude is selfish.

Community Event Lover, as you seem well-informed, could you tell me what the actual decibel level was, who measured it, from where, and what the temporary license specified? Thanks

Music venues should not be allowed in residential areas...common sense...something that community event lover seems to lack

Haha why is it always people that live in nice towns and villages have nothing to do but moan. Chill out and maybe go along, who knows you might actually enjoy yourself for once.

@ the greek, yea, there are a lot of joyless adults on here. Modern life does find a way of grinding many people down. They need to free their minds a bit.

I could only just hear it from the garden of the Dorset so those of you who apparently heard it through closed windows the far end of Malling must have exceptionally acute hearing or lousy windows.

Anyway, what were you doing sitting indoors in total silence on a lovely, warm summers' evening? If the sound of distant music one evening a year is so anathema to you, perhaps living in a town isn't the best idea although pretty much every village round here has a live, outdoor music event at least once a year so most of Sussex is looking out of the question. North Wales is pretty quiet I hear.

Or just spend a quid on some earplugs, or turn the tv up a notch or go outside and enjoy yourself once in a while perhaps?

Why live in lewes if you don't like loud noise? Have you heard of bonfire night?!
Also it makes me deeply sad to see people complaining about the event, a hardworking group of volunteers worked from 9am until 2am to make that amazing show happen and to spend one night raising money for charity!

Loud parties outside in a residential area? Absolutely not. Had I not been hosting family guests last weekend, we would have contacted the police and used any means possible to have it shut down. People like us and many who have moved here pay a particular premium to live in a peaceful, quiet and well-arranged town (with the exception of Bonfire, when we are away). We simply cannot believe the arrogance of whatever went on to the annoyance of everyone.
