Parking permits

As most people affected know, the Lewes Parking scheme has changed, and is no longer operated by Ring but by NSL Apply.
The documentation states that "Your permit will be transferred from Ringo ... You do not need to do anything until your permit is due to expire. You will receive an email reminder... around four weeks before before it expires".
I know mine runs out at the end of this month. I'd had no such email, and when I registered with NSL Apply it said there was no active permit for my vehicle.
I rang the the contact number, to be told by the very polite but harrassed man on the other end that the documentation is essentially a pack of lies. The is no communication between Ringo and NSL Apply, and no data has been transferred between the two systems. The poor guy's life has been pretty fraught as a result.
I think there may be quite a lot of people who only apply for a renewal when they get the reminder, and as the system started from the end af oa previous September, they could be in for a nasty shock next week. I would say that the lack of a reminder should be absolute grounds for appealing any fines, but that's a hassle most people would rather not be put through.
If any readers of this post know of someone in that postion please alert them.
Incidentally, the new system requires you to enter the emssions level band for your vehicle, which is not applicable or available for a cer the age of mine (pre 2001).

Is this why half of the parking meters don’t work at the moment?

The meters are all being replaced by ones that accept cards and phone payment. Eastbourne is this month and Lewes next.
