Did anyone else see/know of parking attendants producing tickets at around 9pm Friday night. In all fairness these cars were parked on double yellow lines so were easy pickings. I was however unaware and quite surprised at the parking attendants working so late in Lewes.
Someone is going to have a good Christmas!

It's all about collecting revenue. Nothing to do with the fact that the yellow lines are there to prevent vehicles parking and causing an obstruction.

They have been doing it for at least a year but why shouldn't they, it is a double yellow?
I hate to side with them after spending hundreds over the last few years on fines, but I think they have been more "Legit" lately. Allowing me to unload, and park properly rather than slapping a ticket on and "allowing me to appeal."

Years ago the Police would have issued these late tickets, now they are too busy with paperwork !

There is no doubt that the blue meanies have been told to back off and be less strict recently. Its like a breath of fresh air.

Last weekend I cheekily parked without buying a ticket whilst I trotted up the road to put something in a letterbox. I knew that it would take me a couple of minutes maximum, but coming back I saw a parking attendant entering my details. I apolgised and explained that I was just dropping something off - "No problem" he said and ambled away. A breath of fresh air indeed

I by noway condone the parking of cars in illegal or restricted areas.
I was just surprised that there were people being paid to do this. More often than not you find the high street awash with illegally parked cars, perhaps this is the contributing factor as to why there are now attendants operating in the evening.
I too saw a parking attendant cancel a ticket after a driver had left it illegally parked whilst collecting his kebab.
However this does pose a question, should there be restrictions on how long you are allowed to leave you cars in the high street bays to allow businesses such as takeaways to successfully operate?
The reason: There have been numerous occasions where I have tried to park in town and it been bumper to bumper.

I've stopped at the Nationwide and asked a warden if I need a ticket just to pop in and pay in a cheque, and was told I was ok for 5-10 minutes without a ticket.
