Got a parking ticket yesterday for parking on the wrong side of Bradford Road (at the end before it turns into the Avenue). I finally found the "Permit holders only" notice on a garden wall with strands of ivy obscuring it. Isn't it up to ESCC to make the signs easily visible from a car?

Yes, did just that when I got a ticket near the Pells a few years ago. Ticket was cancelled.

I've done that too and been successful. It turns out that some of the parking signage in Lewes is not up to regs due mainly I think to planning restrictions on listed buildings. So they can often be in the wrong place or too small.

Appeal. You will definitely win, but that notwithstanding you should appeal every ticket anyway. :-)

yes they are required to make signs visible (including at night, which is hard given that they have been turning the lights out) when you appeal, you can also ask for the photos that were taken as required to show you were breaching signage. this should , of course, include a picture of the sign you are referring to, that is not clear. If they neglect to provide a copy, that endorses your claim, and of course, if they do provide a copy, that also raises the question, why did a warden photograph a barely visible sign, instead of fulfilling a requirment of the job, which is to tell someone about the problem. Good luck!

Always appeal no matter what, cos there`s soooo many issues in the Lewes area with the TMA ,sign have to be clearly visible ,not covered by bushes etc, get your own photo`s ,and ask for there`s
and compare ,if they have trimmed the bushes after your ticket was issued it will make them look silly . Play them at there own game .
