Parking Charter Competition Update

Already a healthy response to the 'try and get a copy of the Parking Charter put up in the Parking Shop" . one District Councillor who has never heard of the charter and can't find a copy, one anonymous possible Cllr failing to explain why there is not already a copy of an already existant charter anywhere, but who has found out it is being rewritten before the results of a Parking Review, and one diverting my very simple issue into a different one and ignoring my simple request that would help everybody. (see thread below) That Councillor goes on to suggest that his colleague supports a change in the scheme that could make things worse.
I am sure that we are all rather mystified why not one Councillor has managed so far to simply print off a copy of the charter, and asking, using the status of a Councillor, that a copy is blu-tacked to a wall. I have been very low in my expexctation and intentionally aimed similarly low in the challenge stakes, in the hope that at least one Councillor might manage this. But it seems so far that I was a bit overambitious.
In the meantime there is no copy of the current Parking Charter, in the Parking Shop, so every person who visiis is being denied easy access to their rights under that charter that we have all already paid for.
A copy can be found buried on a hard to find page on the ESCC web site. If you have ever been refused a PCN cancellation, because you made a mistake, or you overstayed by 10minutes in a paid parking space, then you might be rather amazed to see it.
Lewes CPZ generates over 17,000 items of correspondence a year, thousands more than other local CPZ's, it makes a loss, and has the hisghest percentages of wrongly issued tickets, cancellations, and worse of all running costs.
So, the competition continues......
Perhaps the Sussex Express would like to report our lack of success so far.

What you can expect of us
â?¢We will ensure that we mark streets and car parks with lines and signs as clearly as possible to show where you can and cannot park.
â?¢We will have no targets or incentives for the issuing of tickets or for cancellation.
â?¢We will publish an annual report on our stewardship of the scheme and will be open and transparent whenever we can. We will publish the policies and guidelines that we follow in running the scheme and will invite public comment on them.
â?¢If you challenge a parking ticket, we will consider your case fairly, objectively and on its merits in line with our published policies and guidelines. We will take into account any evidence to show that you genuinely tried to comply with the rules but our decision will depend upon individual circumstances.
â?¢If you pay to park but overstay by less than ten minutes, we will not issue a parking ticket (or, if we do, we will cancel it).
What we expect of you
â?¢We expect you to make reasonable efforts to look out carefully for signs, suspension notices and the like and to park sensibly and in accordance with the rules.
â?¢If we cancel a ticket because we accept that you made a genuine mistake, we expect you to take particular care to avoid doing the same thing again and to accept that we will not normally cancel a ticket if you make the same mistake again.
â?¢We expect you to buy enough time to cover your stay allowing for the possibility of being delayed.
â?¢If, after buying a ticket, you overstay by ten minutes or more, we expect you to recognise that we have already allowed a reasonable margin and will only cancel your ticket in the most exceptional circumstances.
â?¢We expect you to let us know promptly if you encounter a problem with parking or are not sure of something so that we can sort it out. Donâ??t wait until you get a ticket.

I like The Grange Gardens, and the way the teashop has the most odd mixture of china from the charity shops
