Why not follow the example of the private contractor NSL when choosing how to park in Lewes

The whole vehicle needs to be inside the white line - no overhanging. Doesn't matter if the wheels are touching the white line, a huge bit of the car is outside! Doesn't look like it's causing any harm though

Poor traffic warden had nowhere to park legally, so sad. Wait a minute he thought, it's not doing any harm if I leave it there for a bit, after all I'm not going to bloody walk from a few streets away when I can park right where I want to go. And no one can give me a ticket

If I'm in a company car and park illegally my employer would make me pay ticket. NSL employees should likewise be made to pay for illegal parking

What the photo doesn't show is I'm guessing the cars parked to the right have half a car gap between them for fearing of getting boxed in. Incompotent, selfish drivers who even with modern car power steering are unable to park. if they had all edged forward about 30cm/12 ins in old money, then that would have created a little more space over the length of the bays to enable the NSL car to park 'within' the white lined area. You see vast gaps between parked cars everywhere. Parking inability is common in Lewes. Don't even get me started on parallel parking. ' Eek!', she cries.

In reply to 'half a story' are you saying it's the other driver's fault that the NSL car parked illegally? Can I use that excuse when I get a ticket?

What the photo doesn't show is the NSL engineer moving the car forward slightly so the van driver didn't have to attempt to squeeze through a half open van door.

I assume 'parkinson' that you are the NSL driver or how would you know? Anyway there's no one in the NSL car so there aren't 'moving anything. I just wish I could make all these excuses when I park illegally.

The NSL engineer was emptying the pay and display machines at the time. Emptying the machines from inside the car is a bit challenging.

Parkinson - what is so difficult to understand? Nothing is stopping them parking legally elsewhere like the rest of us and walking and carrying the money. It's only a few coins. Or are you saying that if any of us have to do a bit of carrying then we can park like that and not get a ticket? If we have to then you have to.

The car is parked legally. Parking in the controlled area of Lewes was decriminalised when it came under control of the local authority. The car may not be parked within the terms of the parking conditions but that's civil matter not a legal matter. If you think the NSL engineer need to be reprimanded then you should complain to the council.
