Local people may like to be aware that reference to David James Smith's article has appeared in Yasmin Alibhai-Brown's book "Exotic England". See page 120.

I watched the rugby today featuring a team called the 'all blacks'
Curiously they had only one negro in their team

The irony about David James deeply inaccurate article was that it was HIS perspective of his wife and kids experience of Lewes dressed up in his own PC paranoia. Shortly after he left them. Not a nice man - and wrong about his assumptions about Lewes. Remember how he judged his neighbour totally on the fevered ideas his imagination produced ?

If I remember correctly, his neighbour was in the BNP. DJS then went on to say how many BNP members there were in Lewes, which I worked out was less than 0.1% of the total local population! The article was full of half truths and distortions. Shame on Tamsin Alibhai-Brown for quoting it without checking the facts.

Sorry, that should read 'Yasmin' - the autocorrect is being autoincorrect again.

It's an easy jibe for city folk to make. And you can't move to Lewes and expect it to be as racially diverse as London. And much as I loathe the BNP/UKIP/EDL they are still legal political parties. Racism exists everywhere - it's not just confined to backward country folk......

Classic case of projection I think. I didn't know he had left his family though. That tends to happen when you use your family to enhance your career rather than vice versa.
I doubt the neighbour is still in the BNP either, seeing as they were more or less destroyed by UKIP and split into even smaller parties.

During my life we have gone from negro to coloured to black to person of colour... It's pretty obvious that this regular namechanging is simply something done by 'professionals' to give them a reason to accuse people of racism. Racism is how you act, not what termyou use.
