Some months ago I reported a boy racer to Operation Crackdown. He'd been speeding around town in a silver Mazda (reg OU54 XHP), needlessly revving up his engine and generally being a nuisance. Since then, little has changed. He takes it more slowly if people are around, but I've still caught him speeding and the revving up is as bad as ever. The revving up isn't just noisy, but it also means that my front room and hall fill up with exhaust fumes, even with the window pulled up, and my asthma gets worse. He seems to spend a large part of the day driving around town (I'd be interested to know what he does with his time) and clearly doesn't give a damn about anyone. His driving can't just be bothering me, so why is he still allowed to get away with it? Is there any other channel available for getting something done.

The thought has occured to me, plus something nasty to the tyres, but if I break the law to deal with it I'm sinking to their level, which I'm not going to do. There must be a legal way of effectively tackling the problem.

Looks like it may be untaxed. Follow link and put in Reg number and make.

Try speaking to your local PCSO. Although they can't deal with it themselves, they know someone who can and are more likely to listen to you.
Crackdown is more effective if loads of people complain about the same thing, so encourage your neighbours to have a rant.

Have you got any video of him doing it? The tax thugs will clamp him proto if they know where to find him. Good luck to you

@Bernard - the very same. And we all have to breathe it in.

If it's not taxed you could try going back to Crackdown and reporting it as an untaxed vehicle, using the 'abandoned' as opposed to 'antisocial' tab. The local authority seem to show more enthusiasm than the police.

OK, if we all keep a look out for where he parks it we can get some progress. I think he might be in Ousedale somewhere but that's just speculation.

It's not the Bill, it's the prats @ Swansea and their computer ! Said Mazda is parked outside a furniture restorer in Railway Rd. Newhaven daily, so if it is untaxed then the boys in blue should take an interest. Oh and he wheel spins round our town as well, he is undoubtably a tit.

Yep is untaxed since 1st feb but the mot history is quite good nothing wrong with it and passed the mot no advisories. His milage is only around 3000 a year. So might not be his daily driver.

@ Op.mplenty to get at him with. Defo get road tax reported and get some video evidence. I would say your close to sorting this with a bit of effort

Report it as an untaxed vehicle on the DVLA website, all they need are details of vehicle, which can be looked up on their website using reg number, and details of when/where it is likely to be parked. Easy-peasy, lemon squeezy...
If it's got no tax then it may well have no insurance either... hopefully DVLA and plods will look into it and 'feel a collar' or two, and issue a few points on licence - always assuming, of course, that the heavy-footed driver has a valid license in the first place...

He has an MOT - I'm amazed. I thought there were rules about emissions. However, he's untaxed and has now been reported. It makes sense that he works in Newhaven. I was driving behind him one morning and he was doing a good 50 in a 20mph zone. By the time we were on the way to Kingston, he was driving like a maniac - God help any schoolkid or mum with a pushchair who might be crossing the road.

I reported one that didn't move and it took them a good two months to get around to it. Still, clamped it was eventful:-)
