hello
I am concerned about the fairly new parking spaces to the outside Laura Ashley. Most of the spaces (bar one, I think?) are all pay and display at £1 p/h. The first space you come to, however, is not. This is not immediately obvious to those who don't know that. I was parked in this first space for under 2 minutes and promptly moved my car when I realised. The company One Parking Solutions went on to fine me £100 for the @under two minute' MISTAKE. Naturally I appealed this, what I would call and injustice. They proceeded to reply to my appeal, by declining and sent it to my spam folder. I did keep looking out for the reply, but i don't check my spam folder (who does?). So they have sent it on to a debt collection company and it has increased to £170. The debt collection company is called ZZPS Collection I contacted them after receiving the £170 fine through the door today, they were not interested in the issue of this case and expect the fine to be paid. i feel this is wholly wrong. Has anyone else experienced this? Thank you

This regularly comes up - one of the joys of Lewes- I got away with it a couple of years ago because I left my car, walked to their sign, read it and immediately got in and moved the car. So my 2 minutes was free. Basically because They hadn't a leg to stand on. Unfortunately they must have caught dozens of people over the years, if not hundreds.

Thanks for that. The thing is I moved my car in under 2 minutes.

They do not have a legal contract if you were parked for less than 5 minutes. But you're a bit screwed due to the appeal process, I would suggest you treat the bailiffs carefully as they are liable to clamp your car, but do not let them in your house. Money supermarket and other websites can help a lot (beat the bailiffs beat the banks). I can go on forever but it comes down to details like dates (is it too late to appeal etc) and what type of letter you've been sent, has it gone to bulking court, get some advice.

Are there people out there that still do not know this?

I think you’ll find bailiffs are not authorised to come unless the debt has been subject to a court order and several payments are missed

Another "victim"
I parked on the end bay,,facing a pay and display sign ,alongside pay and display road markings the rest of the parking bays were full ,which obscures the vague bay markings.
I paid to park and got a "friendly" letter.
