In 1986 a documentry was made called Once a Year in Lewes. Our video copy is now past its best and was wondering if anyone has got a DVD copy that we could have or know how I could come by one. My husband makes a brief apperance and it would be nice to be able to keep this for the next generations.

Unfortunately you cant do copies well I tried but, it appears protectd and copying seems to be a on-no, though almost tempted to let you have mine as my ex wife is visible on it.
only tempted mind you.
As a suggestion have tried BBC 2 archives offering money just a thought.

Juju, who made it? Was it the BBC? The problem with a programme made that long ago is that it's likely to be in a defunct tape format and that means that it costs a lot of money to get a new copy made. Add to that the fact that the BBC is always very reluctant to help with such requests and I'd guess it's a dead end. If it's an independent company (not all that likely in 1986) then you might have more luck.

However I doubt that the copy that R McWethy has (or you have, for that matter) is actually copy protected and it should be perfectly possible to make a copy of it. Google VHS to DVD copy and see what comes up, and very often photography shops can do this for you as well.

Thank you Southoverqueen, will have to look into that, just a little worried that our copy is to far gone to be watchable even on DVD.

Was that the film John Wells made quite a few years ago? I think it may have been BBC. If it is, and you send them a DVD or video, they may be willing to do a copy for you.
