Where can I find (website?) old photos of Lewes? Preferably of where Malling estate and Nevill estate are now situated? Says around the 1850's up to the 1950's
Thanks

Might be worth trying Reeves the photographers at edwardreeves.com as they have lots of historical photos of Lewes. I'm not aware of an online photo library though.

There are pictures inthe various paperback books about Lewes and its history you can see on most bokkshop shelves. You may have too thumb through them to find the photos of interest. You could of course purchase them all anyway.
There is also a website called Francis Frith that simply holds old shots of almost anywhere on mainland Britain. Not been there myself yet but i bet they are mostly city and town centres, maybe worth a google though.

I've had a look at the Francis Frith site and there is a great selection of pics that are interesting. There's one of Lewes, the Castle 1894 with a column showing a ball on top, which looks like the ball that now sits in front of the arch on the ground. I always wondered what the ball was from.
