Good old Sussex Express, the 'Lewes' newspaper - give them two weeks' notice of Oh What A Lovely War at the Town Hall next week and we get the usual round up of events in Brighton, Lancing, Crawley...
It's going to be a great night's entertainment - loads of the old songs, laughs, tears and with some very lively sound effects, not one for those of a nervous disposition. Some of the language is a bit fruity, but nothing the kids don't hear in the playground.
It's on from Wednesday 1st to Saturday 4th (7.30pm nightly and a 2.30pm Saturday matinee) and you can get tickets from the Lewes Operatic website or between 12 noon and 2pm Mon-Fri from the main entrance to the Town Hall. They'll also be available on the door, although Friday is nearly sold out.

Plus it will open everyone's eyes to what the 1st World War was really about, and just how futile it was. Especially as we are still doing it. I thoroughly recommend everyone to see it especially youngsters. Lest we forget ! Which we certainly have. All those Politicians will be at the Cenotaph next month completly oblivious !

Historian - (soi disant) The First World War was NOT FUTILE . Are you suggesting that if one country in Europe were to invade others , and subject their conquered populations to forced labour we should not try to stop it?
Oh What A Lovely War was a product of the 60s and politically has more to say about that rather less admirable period. It is a great show ,go and see it but don`t conclude that that the 60s had any right to judge the actions taken at that time.

If you really believe the invasion of Belgium was what the First World War was about you need to read more history.

Love the open invitation! It's great to see a space where people can freely share their thoughts. Looking forward to hearing... more

If you lend someone £20 and don't see them again it was probably worth it.
