I see from the Lewes Eye the cab-net is having a private meeting tomorrow over the North Street development. No press, no public.
'Following the refusal of the Liberal-Democrats to form an alliance with Labour, independent and Green councillors to run Lewes District Council the Conservatives have retained control of the cabinet, a committee which has the power to take a number of important decisions.
'The cabinet meets tomorrow, Monday 10th June and it will discuss the North Street development in Lewes in secret, with the press and public excluded. This is all a bit reminiscent of the time the council secretly decided to try to sell 49 sites that it owned.
'We do not know what they will be discussing, but it is clearly important, otherwise it would not all secret. It may well be that the cabinet will try to enter into commitments that are not reversible without anyone knowing and before the opposition has another go at forming an alliance. It may also be that the commitments to build “affordable” housing will also be watered down.'

This upticking and downticking business is interesting. Two Tories presumably downticked my post, not because they are concerned about North Street but because they don't like criticism of their party. Absolute indifference to what is happening in Lewes.

Yes, it seems that secrecy is an important part of democracy! What a joke. No surprise really when the quote of the moment just to the left is by Washington, a member of the " society with secrets".

It’s possible they weren’t being critical of your post but expressing anger at the situation you described.

I hope you're right Inthegutter, though downtick usually signifies disapproval of the poster.

Yes, that's what I thought Local99. Nice of you to find time in your busy day to tell me.

It seems to make little difference what you say to some people, they'll just down thumb you if they don't like you. I don't usually bother but when I do I often hit the wrong one.
