Dis anyone else see him on BBC South news yesterday? He was in front of Brighton station talking about the problems at Balcombe and how it could all be avoided if the Lewes/Uckfield link was available. But the funniest bit was a couple of Brighton football fans recognising him and then coming up behind him on camera chanting "Falmer, Falmer" over his shoulder. He didn't look happy with that but carried on quite well considering.

No ,but I saw him not so long ago at the Liberal conference attempting to justify the forthcoming horrendous hike in railfares. An increase which will make it nigh on impossible for me to carry on travelling up To London to do my poorly paid job.The man should be thoroughly ashamed of himself.

er bastion, Paul Newman is a right wing bigot who can't differentiate between British Rail and the wonderfully new privatised railway companies who's aim is to make profits for their sharehoders (see recent edition of Private Eye etc.).

@ Paul Newman. The point of the 'Fairer Fares' website is to petition against the Government about their proposed 28% increase of rail fares over the next administration. The rail inflation cap was removed after strangely our local MP campaigned against it pre election, and then voted for the inflation cap to be removed earlier this year. Nice to see the promotion of public transport from our local transport minister. I wonder how many people will be getting a 28% pay increase over the next few years? I wonder how many students will be getting any more money to study" I wonder how many more pensioners will be getting a decent increase?

Open the Uckfield Rail link - he should write to the Transport Minister.... Oh that's right he is the Transport Minister! He must be the most ludricrous MP in the country - speaking as if he is still in opposition when he is at the heart of government!
